I was just reading this on my friend's blog, and I thought I'd link to it, because I thought it was funny. http://popculturestuff.wordpress.com/ So,
today at school I had an observation by my principal. I had a
whole day of excellent lesson plans for all my classes. She
didn't come until the last 25 minutes of the day. I have a class
of 22 third grade boys that hour. AAAHH. We were finished a
project, and so for the last 15 minutes it was just free
time/controlled chaos. I felt like an idiot. I can't wait
to read THAT evaluation.
tonight I start a new art class-it's a ceramics class for adults, and
I'm a bit nervous, because I haven't used the wheel since like
March. I hope that I still "have it!" I think it's a little
like riding your bike, where you don't really forget how to do it, but
it's not good to teach something when you are feeling a little rusty
yourself! i am going to go really early and make a few things
before we get started. It's a full class. Yeah! But,
I hate that they don't pay me until the END of the 6 week class!!
Why??
Today I'm teaching about Piet Mondrian in my art class about famous
artists. Did you know that he was something called a Neoplatonist
(I think that's how it's spelled) and that the believed that evil only
existed in the form of something good not being the right color, or in
the wrong place. So, he completely outlawed green from being in
his home. He painted a fake tulip white once! He was a
utopian thinker who was a part of starting the group called De Sjtil
which means "the style" in Dutch. He's fascinating-check him out
on wikipedia...
So, this weekend I was supposed to get to spend some time wandering
about lazily in the park in Bellevue, admiring the river, looking at
the local artisans wares, and then being inspired to go home and work
on my own stuff. INSTEAD...I locked my keys in the car in a bad
part of town, and had to sit with my car for 3 hours, since I didn't
trust leaving my keys in the ignition in that area of town. I got
to race through the art for literally 5 minutes, and never even noticed
the river. I spent 10 minutes later that night working on my
printmaking. BOO. Better luck this weekend perhaps??
There's a great local concert this weekend of a band called The Moseys,
and they are playing at the Poison Room. Sounds scary, but it's
really not. I would highly suggest making a day of it, by going
to see art in Bellevue, grabbing dinner and then heading to the Poison
Room!
